In Aurora, Colorado a lone gunman walked into a movie theater and opened fire killing 12, so far, and wounding at least 50. This is a long line of mass shootings that goes all way back to 1966 here is a list of some of the worst in America-
Aug. 1, 1966: Charles Whitman opened fire from the clock tower at the University of Texas at Austin, killing 16 people and wounding 31.
July 18, 1984: James Oliver Huberty, an out-of-work security guard, kills 21 people in a McDonald’s restaurant in San Ysidro, Calif. A police sharpshooter kills Huberty.
Aug. 20, 1986: Pat Sherrill, 44, a postal worker who was about to be fired, shoots 14 people at a post office in Edmond, Okla. He then kills himself.
June 18, 1990: James Edward Pough shoots people at random in a General Motors Acceptance Corp. office in Jacksonville, Fla., killing 10 and wounding four, before killing himself.
Oct. 16, 1991: A deadly shooting rampage took place in Killeen, Texas, as George Hennard opened fire at a Luby’s Cafeteria, killing 23 people before taking his own life. 20 others were wounded in the attack.
April 20, 1999: Students Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, opened fire at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo., killing 12 classmates and a teacher and wounding 26 others before killing themselves in the school’s library.
April 16, 2007: Seung-Hui Cho, 23, fatally shot 32 people in a dorm and a classroom at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, then killed himself in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
November 5, 2009: Nidal Hasan a fanatic Islamic radical fatally shot 13 people including 12 soldiers at Fort Hood Texas.
These are just a few examples, then there is what is considered by some the most brazen shooting, that of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others, 6 of whom died, by Jared Lee Loughner on January 8, 2001.
So what do all of these shootings have in common? The only ones there with a gun were the bad guys. Had there been law-abiding citizens who were lawfully allowed to carry a concealed weapon these shootings my have turned out a lot different. Just look at the story of the 71-year-old man who was legally carrying a concealed weapon in an Ocala Florida internet café
when a pair of armed thugs came in. he pulled out his gun and shot, he stopped not only a robbery but what very well could have been some innocent person getting hurt. And guess what, he shot at the bad guys, hit them and when they left he stopped shooting. No one else was hurt, no property was damaged, his gun didn’t just decide to kill random people. He stopped very bad people from doing very bad things.
People this is the reason for the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms. If the federal and state governments would stop making it so hard for law-abiding American citizens to exercise that right crime would drop drastically. Criminals are bullies and they pick on those weaker than they are, if they even think they are evenly matched they will run. Why do you think they love guns so much? Because they know they can get them and the average law-abiding American can not. If more people were walking around legally armed criminals would think twice about committing their crimes.
