Civil Rights For Everyone, As long As You Are Not Christian

Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes By Melissa, a bakery in Oregon, refused service to a lesbian couple based on their religious beliefs. Aaron and Melissa are Christian and do not believe in same-sex unions, it goes against their religious beliefs, yet Oregon has decided that their beliefs are mute and they must cater to the lesbian couple. Oregon has stated that Aaron and Melissa violated the couples civil rights by refusing to serve them. I ask what about the civil rights of Aaron and Melissa? Don’t they have the right to be free to not have their religious beliefs compromised?

Then there is Baronelle Stutzman owner of Arlene’s Flowers and Gifts in Richland, Washington that was sued after refusing to provide flowers for a gay couples same-sex union. Citing her relationship with Jesus Christ Mrs. Stutzman said she could not provide flowers for their “marriage.”  In Mrs. Stutzman’s case she believes the state is targeting her for her religious beliefs, she not only has already has gay and lesbian customers (so she can not be violating the state’s law against discriminating against a person due to sexual orientation),  she also employs gays and lesbians, she just refuses to accept marriage as anything other than between a man and a woman. This is blatantly a case of attacking her because of her religious beliefs.

One can only ask if a Muslim refused to sell flowers or bake a cake for a same-sex union would the result in court be the same?
